Benefits of Membership in Tuscaloosa Home Builders Association

Member Meetings

Share ideas and information with fellow builders and associates at our Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa quarterly meetings. Special programs are designed to educate, inform, inspire and keep you up-to-date on trends in the housing industry.

Referrals

The Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa receives numerous calls a month for industry contractors and suppliers and our NEW website is growing in "hits" per month.  When we receive calls inquiring about specific categories of businesses and how to receive contact information about them, ONLY member information is provided.  The HBAT online membership directory information link, Your Home Town Professionals, and this website are used by members and non-members as resources for business listings.

Sponsorship & Advertising

Members have many resources in which to market their company products and services.  Members can choose from sponsorships and advertising opportunities for such events as the Annual Parade of Homes, Showcase Home, monthly "Lunch & Learn" membership events, quarterly General Membership Events, annual golf tournament, monthly e-Newsletter, Online Membership Directory, website and many other events throughout the year.

Continuing Education Credits

Beginning with the 2022 renewal year, all licensees and/or designated qualifying representatives for a corporation, limited liability company or partnership under the age of 60 must obtain six (6) credit hours of continuing education before being issued a license. Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa offers numerous opportunities throughout the year to earn these CE credits with members receiving a discount on registration.

Vocational Education

Professional skilled tradesmen are the life-blood of our industry.  The Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa (HBAT) and the Home Builders Association of Alabama (HBAA) offer assistance to our local technical schools and community colleges in structuring and promoting related vocational programs.

Advocacy

The HBAT Alabama Builders Political Action Committee is a non-partisan committee organized for the specific purpose of raising funds to support pro-housing candidates of all parties at the state and local levels of government.  Contributions to Build-PAC are an investment in the future of your business and the home building industry as a whole. It is essential that we are able to support the candidates that understand and will fight for the issues important to us when they are in office. Candidates who receive support from Build-Pac know our critical issues and understand the depth of that support because it comes from thousands of builders and associates across the state. Build-Pac contributions are the key to our being able to promote a pro-housing agenda in the legislature and local governments statewide.

Insurance

The Alabama Home Builders Self Insurers Fund (AHBSIF) was established in 1984 to provide all eligible members of the Home Builders Association of Alabama an affordable market for workers compensation coverage.  Designed for builders and contractors who are subject to the revenue fluctuations in the homebuilding industry, the AHBSIF Fund offers participants the option of quarterly or monthly payments based on the payroll for the previous period. Residential and light commercial builders, subcontractors, suppliers, and other businesses affiliated with the construction industry benefit from Fund participation.  For more information click here.

National Discounts

With local membership comes membership in the National Home Builders Association. As a member of NAHB you can take advantage of the national buying power of a 150,000 plus member organization.
