Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa Mourns Loss of Past President Kevin Pake

A Tuscaloosa native, Pake grew up in the building industry with his father, Lee Pake of Pake Realty Company. In 1990 he graduated with a B.A. in Graphic Design and Marketing from the University of Alabama and in 1994 earned a Graduate Degree in Computer Science and Art from the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia.

Following a career in corporate marketing and graphic design with Ernst and Young in Atlanta, Pake joined his father, Lee, at Pake Realty. He later started his own company, Southview Homes LLC, and joined the Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa. He began serving on the HBAT Board of Directors in 2006 and in 2010 served as HBAT President. He was honored as the HBAT Builder of the Year in 2012.

At the state level, Pake began serving on the HBAA Board of Directors in 2010 and on its Executive Committee in 2012. Among his roles were Affordable Housing Chair, Education Chair, Regulatory Affairs Chair, Investment Property Owners Chair, Land Developers Chair, Nominating Committee Chair, and Hall of Fame Selection Committee Chair. In 2023 he led the HBAA as its President. At the time of his death, Pake was serving as the HBAA Past State Presidents Chair as well as the HBAA’s State Representative to the National Association of Home Builders.

Our condolences go out to Kevin’s son, Jack Pake; brother Lee Pake (Wendy); nephews Reed Pake and Graham Pake; Aunt and Uncle, Jean and Larry Tashlik; Uncle Stuart Shubin (Connie); Jack’s mother, Michelle Pake; cousins Alyson Lapes (Brian), Amy Caplan (Brad) and Joy Sage (Rob); and his many friends and colleagues.

The family requests that donations be made in Pake’s memory to the Alabama Home Builders Foundation (Attn: Kevin Pake Scholarship, P.O. Box 241305, Montgomery, AL 36124-1305), the University of Alabama Hillel, or the American Heart Association.
